How to Clean your Spray Gun
Improper or incomplete cleaning can lead to malfunctions and distortion of the spray fan pattern.
The best way to keep your spray gun performing at its best is through regular and thorough cleaning after every use. Failure to clean properly may result in poor spraying, potential damage, and even void the warranty.
Always clean your spray gun immediately after each job to maintain durability and smooth operation.
How to Clean Your Spray Gun
-
Flush with Solvent
Spray a small amount of solvent through the spray gun to remove leftover paint. (You can also use the Hitto Brass Thread Air Duster for this step).
⚠️ Note: Always check your local regulations. In some areas, spraying solvents into the air is prohibited, and you may need to use a cabinet-style spray gun cleaner instead. -
Disconnect from Air Supply
Safely disconnect the spray gun from the compressed air source. -
Empty the Paint Cup
Open the cup and remove any remaining paint. -
Disassemble the Gun
Unscrew the fluid control knob, remove the nozzle/air cap (“flower”), and take out the needle for thorough cleaning.

For Cleaning & Service
Remove Components
-
Take off the atomizing cap using your fingers and remove the fluid tip with a service wrench. The gun should now look as shown in Picture 9.
-
Rinse & Dry
Wash these parts thoroughly in solvent, then either dry them with compressed air or let them air dry naturally.⚠️ Note: If the small holes in the atomizing cap are clogged, soak the cap in clean solvent. If the blockage remains, carefully clear it with a small needle. Be gentle to avoid enlarging or damaging the holes, as this can cause an uneven spray pattern.
-
Detail Cleaning
Use a cleaning brush with solvent to scrub the internal orifices and any hard-to-reach areas on the outside of the spray gun body. -
Wipe & Finish
Wipe the gun body with a shop towel and dry it completely.
Clean both the inside and outside of the spray gun (1) using a brush (2) for best results.

- Clean the inside of the paint cup (1).

- Remove and clean the inside and outside of the air cap with a brush soaked in cleaning solvent.

Note: Wash the air cap (1) carefully without causing damage to the air vent as this will affect the spray pattern. Do not use steel wire or wire brush to clean. If the air vent is clogged, clean it using a wooden towel (2).
Warning:
Do not use metal or other objects that could damage the holes in the nozzle and cap.
Never immerse the spray gun completely in solvent.
Do not use components or parts that are not original from the manufacturer.
