6 Tips for Proper Disposal

  1. Label your containers – It’s recommended to label all immediate-use containers that contain chemicals, such as Hitto Paint Cups.

  2. Follow regulations – Rules apply to all chemical containers that have held hazardous materials, including Hitto Lids and Liners, metal toner cans, mixing cups, and 5-gallon containers.

  3. Dispose of water-based paints properly – They can still be hazardous. Always verify if the coating is classified as hazardous, acutely hazardous, or extremely hazardous. Refer to the paint or coating manufacturer’s safety data sheet and follow local disposal regulations.

  4. Empty before disposal – Always pour out any remaining material from Hitto Liners and similar small containers into the proper waste receptacle before placing them in regular trash (refer to local “Empty” definitions).

  5. PRO TIP: For pourable hazardous materials, let your Hitto Lids and Liners drip or air dry into an approved hazardous waste container before disposal.

  6. Never discard non-empty containers – Any hazardous chemical container that is not completely empty must be disposed of as hazardous waste.
